Description
Tonbridge Brewery are an independent brewery based in the ‘Historic Heart of Kent’s Hop Growing Area’, supplying cask conditioned ales to Pubs and Clubs throughout Kent, that includes us in Historic Rochester! and also South East London, and Eastern parts of Sussex and Surrey. Established in 2010, Tonbridge Brewery produce a widerange of distinctive real ales in cask and a small range of keg ales. They use only malted barley, leaf hops (predominately Kentish) and yeast. Tonbridge Brewery ales are brewed with a live yeast that originates from the Barclay Perkins brewery of Southwark, south east London, which provides these beers individual character. The regular cask conditioned ales are all clearly differentiated and the range offers a choice of lighter, darker, hoppy, malty, weaker and stronger ales.

Cask at chapel book shop, Broadstairs, 21/06/21. Clear golden decent white head retains well. Nose is airy crisp malt, biscuit, grass, lemon tinged straw. Taste comprises, light citric zest, crackers, grains, biscuit malt, light astringent bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow level of bitterness. Far from any APA that I know but a decent enough cask golde meets bitter.

Mini Keg from OneInnTheWood Petts Wood. Pours a slightly hazy chestnut colour with a thinnish off-white head. Nice lacing. Aromas of caramel, biscuits and nuts. Taste is more pronounced nuts, hints of honey and a nice bitter hop on the finish. Medium bodied, smooth slightly oily mouthfeel and a nice nut and bitter hop aftertaste. Nice beer.

Cask ale served in a mug at Fuggles Beer Cafe. Half-pint shared with Finn. Dark reddish-brown body, bubbly head and lacing rings down the glass. Restrained malt-fruity aromas, hints of ripe citrus and caramel malts. The taste profile follows suit with caramel, biscuit, and lemony hops. Short bittersweet tail. Just alright. (Tunbridge Wells 18.10.2019).
