Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

Draft (3% ABV) @ the brewery in Merville. Pours a pale yellow, good white head. Light grapefruit citrus aroma. As expected the flavour profile doesn't exactly pull any punches, it's very much a light-bodied pale but does have a pleasant citrussy air. Ok.

Draft @ Brasserie du Pays Flamand, Merville. Unfortunately not the West Coast IPA I expected. Pours a misty yellow, white head. Aroma of gentle citrussy exotic hop. Flavour profile follows, light bodied, moderate hoppy profile, soft exotic citrus, gentle bitterness. Fine for what it is, but somewhat confused it wasn't as advertised. Marked down for this.

330ml bottle from Plaisir Fraicheur, Hazebrouck. Pours a deep, hazed dark brown with a good tan head. Aroma is rich, complex with layered dark malts, coffee, roast. Flavour continues in a similar fashion, very rich roast, coffee flavoured biscuits, chocolate hints.. an exceptionally presented extra stout, Kernel-level good.
