Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

bottle from Saveur-Biere. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Fruity nose with an immense hoppy aroma. Full-bodied, good malt flavours with the right sweetness compement the immense hop flavours very well. Incredbibly hoppy - fruity (banana, citrus fruit) and reisny with a slightly bitter finish. Full of character, very very hoppy - I love it.

(Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 19 Oct 2012) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with orange peel, caramel and grapefruit. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, orange peel, marmalade and a generous citrussy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Tasty and quite nice.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris, vintage 2012, bottle 1650
Cloudy amber color, with generous compact head. Aroma of hops, oranges, some wood, light incense and cedarwood. Too much carbonation; it has some malt and caramel flavor, not well married to the woody presence and quite strong bitterness; there is some orangey fruitiness. The final is a bit harsh.
There is a lot of flavors, but it’s rather chaotic overall.

bottle from saveur-biere. Deep brown, almost black, brown head. Lots of flavours going on here: espresso coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, darkl, roasted malts. Not too dry, pleasantly malty and sweet. A truly dark delight.

A lightly hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, strange corky malt with solvents and alcohol, a tad of pepper. In mouth, a sweetish malt with licorice notes, pepper, alcohol, light acidity, not bad.

Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Almost undrinkable. A huge gusher. There must have been a seriously live yeast colony in this bottle. In fact we never actually removed the bottle top. A yeasty aroma. The flavour is bitter and medicinal with some smooth hints of banana. Not brilliant and not bad. Rerated 3/10/2015 Bottle from somewhere in France. Actually got to taste it this time. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is light coffee caramel. The flavour is strong liqourice alcohol with a smoky malt light floral liqourice palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.
