Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

That's a pretty flavorless stout. I'm not impressed.

On tap at UDDA. Hazy yellow with medium white head. Hoppy, some citrus notes, medium carbonation, dry and somewhat bitterish finish.

Tap at Udda. Slightly cloudy orange with almost no head. Funky, grapey, quite a lot of sauterne notes, orange. A bit on the boozy side but feels like this could be an excellent food pairing.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear amber with a smal, rough, off-white head. Heavy leathery Brett aroma paired with some lactic acid. Medium body, initial sweet candy like noble rot and then comes quite some acetic acid. Pleasantly complex without being overly sour. 181124

330ml bottle from Brasserie du Pays Flamand, Merville. Pours a hazed dark amber, loose bubbly white head. Noticeable winey influence on the nose. Big burnished bretty red wine twang dominating the show here alongside a noticeable rye malt sweetness. Nicely done.

(Bottle) Golden colour with big, but brief, foamy white head. Malty, floral nose with white bread, dried apricots, clove, honey and hay. Malty, herbal taste with notes of white bread, dried apricots, clove, honey, hay, elderflower and gentle floral bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Well balanced saison. Nice one.

330ml bottle from Brasserie du Pays Flamand, Merville. Pours a rich dark complexion with good tan head. Confident bourbon nose, coming through quite strong overall. Flavour profile presents rich dark layers with a big boozy bourbon influence. Hefty sipper. Just fantastic.

Hazy yellow colour with no head. Funky and slightly sour Grape Ale style. Perhaps a bit of a harsh finish.

Draft @ Pays Flamand, Merville. Pours a deep misty amber, good small white head. Aroma of mild winter spice. A hint of bubblegum in the shadows to taste, with mild Christmas spice. Ok overall but there are spicier, more flavourful Christmas beers around.
