Growler from The Grove in Yardville, NJ. I thought this was retired, so was surprised to find it. Translucent cola brown color. Small bubbly tan head. Big cocoa dark malt nose. Reminiscent of YooHoo. Flavor is sweet cocoa and spicy hops. Taste is a combination of Tootsie Rolls and herbal hops, with a touch of vanilla bean. Chocolate dominates the palate. More like a Porter than a Stout.

32oz growler from State Line. Poured into Coney Island glass mug. Hazy golden color. Decent sized head that fades without much lacing. Aroma is lightly fruity, and thick bready maltiness. It tastes like some pineapple was added to this, maybe that is some brett? Aside from that there isn?t anything funky or sour about the aroma. Mouthfeel is a little thicker for what otherwise feels like a small beer. Flavor is lightly tart pineapple with again a thick maltiness. A little dull of a beer, not a sour, low hop... meh. I will drink this 32oz growler and I?m fine with it for the low price I paid but I have no need to drink it again.

Bottle. Golden body with a large, lasting white head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, clove, pineapple, floral hops. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Sweet with clove, banana, citrus flavors. Yet there’s a hop bitterness that lingers. Not a classic tripel, by far. Just OK.
