Sehr helle, recht trübe Farbe - verflucht nahe am Optimum für ein Zwicklbier. Schaumentwicklung allerdings nur OK. Frucht, Getreide und Blumen in der Nase - die für ein bayerisches Bier ungewöhnlich starke Hopfung fällt hier nicht auf. Im Antrunk ein recht heftiger, aber auch kurzer Anflug von Dunkelmalz (den man bei einem Bier dieser Färbung nicht unbedingt erwartet). Dann übernehmen sofort Fruchtnoten (u.a. reife Birne) und die starke Hopfung das Zepter. Etwas dumpfgetreidig geht es dann weiter. Krautige Nuancen und Spuren von mehr als nur überreifen Früchten blitzen über die gesamte Länge immer mal wieder auf. An sich vermittelt das Bier ein sehr gutes Mundgefühl - wunderbar weich, eher wenig (aber extrem feinperlige) Kohlensäure, Substanz mehr als 4,8 % Alk. und 11 % Stammwürze erwarten lassen würden. In Bayern ist es nix gutes, wenn der Watschnbaam umfällt - und auch hier gehe ich eher mit dieser negativen Assoziation konform. Das Bier macht vieles sehr gut, ist geschmacklich aber dann doch eher seltsam und recht sperrig. Die stilistisch in eine ähnliche Kerbe schlagenden Kreationen „Wilder Wald“ und „Frühlingsgenuss“ der Viechtacher Brauerei sind da um Klassen besser.

Bottle, thanks Fin&Loz! Deep golden, restrained carbonation, low offwhite head. Doughy malt on the palate, dry cracker mouthfeel , metallic grassy hops, flowers retronasal. Nice.

Very soft and mild, grainy with nice deep sticky earthy hops. Tons of herbal earthy hops over a deep grainy body. Dry, moderate bitter with a nice dry floral earthy finish. Nice and interesting. Great.

Grainy, malty. Slightly sweetish with a grainy mild back. Slightly bitter, grainy with a deep grainy and moderate bitter dry finish. Nice.

Bottle picked up Gessellschaftsbrauerei Getrankemarkt in Viechtach consumed at home Tuesday 7th March 2023. We had Celery and Stilton Soup. We're listening to Steve Lamaq on 6Music. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and dirty off white head. This has a lovely maltiness but a distinct dark fruit skin twanginess, soft mouthfeel, some bitterness, caramel, wow this is fabulous. I think that I am becoming a bit of a fanboy where this brewery is concerned.

Bottle picked up from the Gessellschaftsbrauerei Getrankemarkt in Viechtach consumed at home Monday 6th March 2023 after an 8km walk around Freyung and a further visit to the Notar, hopefully the last in relation to the house. We're cooking Pasta, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil and Feta bake. Pours warm gold with a large white head. Fruity with a nice bite, there is more of a crispness than I was expecting, though a light maltiness throughout, as I sip further perhaps it is a touch more fuller than expected but I still think it's a bit frisky, however I also have their Helles so will try that next and will leave a little bit of this to compare.

Bottle picked up from the brewery Getrankemarkt in Veichtach Saturday 4th March 2023, had this sat in Frank at Natur Pur Bayerwald camping, nr Waldkirchen Sunday 5th March 2023 after a 12-13km walk from where we're camping to Waldkirchen and back, we've just had Chicken and Chorizo Lasagne with a nice salad for tea. Pours dark reddy brown, but really dark brown, however there is a clarity. Quite chocolatey, some cocoa, soft, very soft mouthfeel. Abv is well hidden. I am beginning to realise that this brewery are actually very good, everything I've tried has been at the least good but usually very good. I am reminded of Ayinger Celebrator when I sip this.

Bottle picked up from the brewery Getrankemarkt (2nd visit) Saturday 4th March 2023, had this sat in Frank at Natur Pur Bayerwald camping, nr Waldkirchen, Bayerisch Wald. Pours light amber, slight haze, white head. A little sweet maltiness soon opens up and we get a pleasant light bitterness, good carbonation and mouthfeel. A little soft orange fruity edge. Good beer.
