Description
2005 saw the acquisition of Jennings Brewery by Marston’s PLC.
In 2009, the Cockermouth floods had a huge impact on the business and the site, forcing Marston’s to implement flood safety features and barricades throughout the site. A few short years after the floods, brewing transferred out of the town and a mass rebrand occurred.
Marston's retrained ownership of the brewery (through Carlsberg UK) until it closed its doors in November 2022

Bottle at home, thanks to Doggy Dave, 25/08/19 ... Ashes come down. Clear golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is caramel, stewed fruits, sweet aroma. Taste comprises light melon, citric peel, caramel, breads, sweet malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable affair ... overly sweet.

500 ml bottle. Unclear dark golden, foamy head. Marzipan, metal, lemon, hoppy notes, hay and straw, some grass. Metallic bitterness. Light bodied, oily watery texture, soft carbonated, dry bitter finish.

Bottle in London. 5th new rate from MJ's 500 this summer trip. Nice citrus hop nose, sulfur, chalk, light, crackery malt and some herbs. Deep gold, clear, with a high, fine head. Flavor is maltier, with biscuits, lemon, chalk. The peppery finish is nicely bitter but a bit too chalky for me. This was probably one of the first hoppy UK golden ales, like Tangle Foot, but has stood the test of time better. Certainly it has been surpassed with the inflood of new world hops. Definitely still a decent drinker, if a bit too chalky.

8/8/2019. Cask at Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street Station. Pours maroon brown with a bubbly lasting off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, fruit, hops, bread, nut and light chocolate. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, slight oily and watery texture, average to soft carbonation. Quite drinkable.

Bottle from Morrisons. Golden in colour, with a frothy, white, head. Light malts, a slightly skunky edge, touch of stone fruit, leafy hops and a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

500ml bottle: BB 29th Feb 2020. Drank at home on 27th June 2019. Light golden body, white top. Weak citrus nose and flavour, watery and uninteresting, most likely the worst beer I have had from Jennings.

Goryczka niska do średniej, wysycenie niskie do średniego, ciało w normie. Przeciętniak.
