Description
2005 saw the acquisition of Jennings Brewery by Marston’s PLC.
In 2009, the Cockermouth floods had a huge impact on the business and the site, forcing Marston’s to implement flood safety features and barricades throughout the site. A few short years after the floods, brewing transferred out of the town and a mass rebrand occurred.
Marston's retrained ownership of the brewery (through Carlsberg UK) until it closed its doors in November 2022

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - hazy golden with a nice lacy head. Nose - lemon and meadow flowers. Taste - lemon barley water this time. Lemon or grapefruit pith bringing up the end. Palate - creamy and tangy. Light bodied and clean finish. Overall - much better than the bottled version.

Cask @ Britannia Inn, Elterwater. Copper-amber, clear, with a very small head. It's a malty bitter but light ingredients making it easy supping.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - orange amber. Hint of red from the fruit. Decent lacing. Nose - very sweet strawberry, like the syrup on an ice cream. Taste - more strawberry syrup. Malty backbone. Palate - light to medium and a bit sweet. Overall - not unpleasant but quite artificial.

Bottle from Booths, Penwortham, shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Strong strawberry and raspberry aromas. Doesn't say artificial flavouring, but smells like it. Taste is sweet, definitely artificial fruit in there. Bit grim.

"very high spirits" und 2. "boastful", was soviel wie "prahlerisch" heißt und gut zu dem eitlen Gockel passt, der die Vorderseite der Flasche ziert.
