This beer pours a clear amber color with a medium thin and foamy light beige head that disappears quickly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and a touch of spice. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, cinnamon and caramel. The finish is sweet with a short malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Porter with character of a spirit, it certainly has a nose that would rival a drink with a strong alcohol content, close to that of whiskey in aroma.. It doesn’t have an appealing character, but definitely an interesting one as this style is rare. Ruby colour but flat looking.

Cask@GBBF2012. Apparently came and went very fast, as I tried several times to get it. Very deep brown, close to black colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is coffee, caramel, mild toasted notes as well as some slight chocolate. Flavour is coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, some alight ashes as well as mild toffee. Quite bitter sweet in the finish.

Bottle at (parent’s) home - 26/08/12 - thanks to Steve ’beers I’ve known’. Pours a slightly obscured copper colour with a decent blob of off-white head. Lively carbonation is visible and quite a bit of lacing ensues. Malt forward nose with dark fruit, raisen and sugars. Taste follows the nose with a slightly metallic flavour leading to a moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied with slightly prickly carbonation, a little too much of the latter! Drinkable beer but file under ’W’ for whelmed!

Cask at Hilden Fest 2012 - 25/08/12. Mid black colour, dark brown hues when held to light with a thin tan head. Roasted malts on the nose allied to chocolate, coffee and a whiff of smoke. Taste follows nose with a little dark fruit in the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with a dry finish,

Bottle at parents house - 24/08/12. Clear golden amber with a decent off-white head. Sweet malt, candy floss, peach, cinnamon, rhubarb and ginger in the nose. Hops in the taste, citrus fruit and spices. Medium bodied with carbonation at the high end leading to a dry finish. Pleasant enough drinking.

Bottle at (parent’s) home - 25/08/12 - thanks to Steve ’beers I’ve known’. Pours a clear pale golden colour with a thin white head. Lively carbonation evident from the appearance. Pale malts, straw and a little honey and orange on the nose. In the taste, sweet malts, grassy, a little wheat and grain, a pinch of citrus and a little spice culminating with a bitter crisp finish. Medium bodied with a good level of carbonation. Well poduced lager.
