Description
Established 1996 on the third generation family farm amidst the spectacular Mourne Mountain range in the north of Ireland, Whitewater Brewery still retains the passion and desire to brew beers with fantastic flavours.

We started with an 800 Litre brew size and currently we’re handcrafting 6500 Litre brews and bottling our 10 different beers on site. On 4th February 2016 we obtained Planning Permission to build a new brewery and after 20 years the next chapter begins. Our new brewery has the capacity to produce around 40,000 litres a month and has scope for further expansion.

We source spring water from the Mourne Mountains which is blended with American, Australian and New Zealand hops to create best-selling beers.

The company produces bottle-conditioned beers and ales and also supplies products in kegs to customers throughout Ireland. We’re expecting wild times ahead along with great beers….pick up a Whitewater and enjoy the journey.

440ml can: BB 31st March 2025, drank at my dad's place in Devon on 16th March 2024. Orange amber body, white crown. Piney hop bitterness, some citrus/tropical fruit action and a malty balance, liked it's semi-harshness.

Can from Beer52. It pours very murky pale brown pond water with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is sappy, resinous, pine, quite green and herbal. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, sappy, pine, resinous, green, weedy, leafy, some sharpness/astringency, pithy, zesty citrus, grapefruit, orange peel, and peppery spice with a drying finale. Average body and moderate fluffy carbonation. Not what I was expecting for a hazy pale, which is more softer, sweeter and perhaps more stone fruit. I don't mind the bitterness, if a touch harsh. Fair.

330ml can from KWM Wines: BB 30th April 2025. Poured into a Gordon's thistle shaped glass at home on 3rd February 2024. Black bodied with a tanned crown. Nose is boozy, woody, whiskey and malty, taste is on the same lines with the barrel aging very obvious. Strangely it's not really 'slick' or 'rich' body wise, nor is it 'smooth', I'm liking it even though it's a little 'harsh' in places. It's interesting and I'm glad I bit the bullet and paid the extra for the can when ordering on-line.

440ml can from KWM Wines: BB 31st January 2025. Drank at home on 3rd February 2024. My kind of beer! Poured a lovely clean and clear amber colour, the head a decent and lasting off-white crown. Resinous nose and initial taste, some sweet malt action follows and the hops take on a slight citrus fruit twist, but it's a great blend of semi-sweet maltiness and resinous hops that I really liked.

440ml can from KWM Wines: BB 31st December 2024. Drank at home on 29th January 2024. Orange golden body, clear pour, snow white head. Orange peel pithiness in both the nose and taste, it's a pretty bitter orange taste really, not too sure I actually like it! Scored objectively.

33cl can: BB Drank at home on 27th January 2024. Maroon body, off-white head. Malty with a Rye like feel to both the aroma and sweet taste. Would have liked a bit more alcohol and depth to the body, but this is still a very pleasant Red Ale in my eyes.

500ml bottle shared with blackhaddock. Pours a deep chestnut brown, off-white head. Malty fruitcake nose. Taste presents a decent amber malt character with nutty moments, some fruitcake hints. Decent red ale.

500ml bottle (BB 30th June 2024), shared with minutemat at my house on 6th November 2023 during a mega tasting, Panda for Grumbo too. Irish Red Ale, looks fine and tasty, clear mahogany red with a cream coloured head. Malty with an earthy/nutty undertone, it's a very pleasant beer and not too sweet for a Red Ale.
