Cheers to the Leightonator for this country tick and for the shower before hand - I enjoyed the squishy feeling beneath my feet (post shower!), 02/09/14. Black with a well appointed tan covering that dissipates but retains to good effect. Nose is earthy roastings, papery notes, dark malt, dark chocolate, brown bread, light spice. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, spice, chocolate vanilla fudge, sweet licks, light roast. Medium + body, fine carbonation, smei drying close with sweet notes. Decent.

Bottle thanks to L-Dogggg. It pours cloudy dark brown with a small bubbly tan head. The nose is bitter-sweet, dark chocolate, earth, fruit and gateaux. The taste is bitter-sweet, rich dark chocolate, earth, cocoa, coffee, mild acidity and light ash with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Quite nice. Nice dark chocolate action.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in Copenhagen. Pours rich brown with a frothy, khaki head. The nose has some torched meat, rich chocolate, light roast, dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor with burnt malts, charred ham, raisins, burnt cereal, wood, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Burnt wood finish with further charred meat, bitter pine, torched wood, bittersweet cocoa. Not bad.

Pours a creamy deep black color, topped with a hefty dark cream colored head. A mild, but easily picked up aroma of roasted malts, coffee and caramel. The taste is roasty, quite heavily, with coffee and bittery finish. Roasty aftertaste. Very drinkable and very pleasant.

500ml bottle @ the 7th Shrewsbury Bottle Share, brought by me, many thanks to humlelala for the trade! Also glad to make a rare contribution to a new country tick for Master Haddock below. After previous poor ratings I wasn’t expecting a lot from this, but I think it surprised us all. Very rich and boozy, even for a 10.4% quad, with dominant hoppiness cutting through some dark fruit-laden malts. A great end to the night.

The last beer at the August Shrewsbury bottle share: cheers Mat for bringing the 500ml bottle (BBD 15 Sep 2017). Golden amber pour with a white crown. I thought it more hoppy than other raters seem to have done: have they changed the recipe because although it had plenty of semi-sweet maltiness in the aroma and taste it was predominantly hoppy (or had my taste buds been shot?). The alcohol came through nicely and this was a fittingly good end to a great night of beer tasting. This also took my personal country total to 99, onwards and upwards.
