Description
Beer was first brewed at Klášter in 1570. In 1621 the brewery became property of the Wallenstein dynasty which remained the owner until 1945. In 1864 the Wallensteins built one of the most modern breweries of its times and towards the end of the 19th century, Klášter Brewery was among the seven largest breweries in Bohemia. Like with all czech breweries after the war the communist period and the reprivatisation in the nineties brough a lot of changes. Since 2012 the brewery belongs to the Lobkowicz Brewery Group.

On tap at Bellavista, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a reddish tinge and a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, with light toasted bready caramel. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, a touch of toasted nuttiness, and a tiny hint of caramel. Clean and easy to drink, but not a whole lot of depth. Solid stuff.

On tap at Bellavista, pours a clear copper with a medium white head. Nose brings out crisp crackery malt, with cereal grains, straw, and grassy hops. Flavour is crisp and punchy, with straw, light grass and crisp crackery malt. Clean and crisp, with okay drinkability. By no means a top Czech pils.

On tap at Bellavista, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Nose brings out light blueberries and a touch of metallic notes. Flavour is mildly sweet, with subtle blueberry character and some metallic toasted malt. Not too nicely constructed, but it's alright.
