Description
The Czech master brewer František Bedřich Janáček (1845-1925) started to build the brewery in 1894 and it was completed in 1895. Between the two world wars the Janáček Brewery in Uherský Brod belonged among the most modern breweries in Central Europe. The brew-master Jaromír Janáček managed and maintained the family brewery until its nationalisation in 1948. A vast reconstruction of the whole brewery was completed in 1993. The Uherský Brod Brewery belongs to Pivovary Lobkowicz.

Bottle bought from the bus resting place somewhere near Uherský Brod. Golden color, good cloudy white head. Grassy hoppy, slightly buttery nose. Reasonably malty for 10P beer. Some metallic notes and buttery flavors. Nice Saaz-hoppy finish and aftertaste. Kind of Budvar-imitation. Not bad 4.1 % beer.

Pale golden color, small white head. Sweet malty, a bit grassy aroma. Malty, but unbalanced harsh hoppy flavor. Some sweetness in the aftertaste.

From tap at Hrozen. Pours slight hazy orange with a lacing white head. Mild mouldy and light spiced aroma. Flavour is light spiced and butterish with a mild bitterness showing through. Ends medium dry and light sweet caramel flavoured into the finish.

Draft at Vinarna Hrozen during RBESG. Listen, I’d spent 2 hours waiting for food and a beer and now to be honest I’d rather go to Na Parkanu and drink P.U. unfiltered. But this isn’t a bad lager, some hop on aroma. Drinkable in mouth, some hop on finish. Fine.

Draft at Vinarna Hrozen during RBESG. A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, leading to a bitter finish. Clean, but note very exciting.
