Description
The Czech master brewer František Bedřich Janáček (1845-1925) started to build the brewery in 1894 and it was completed in 1895. Between the two world wars the Janáček Brewery in Uherský Brod belonged among the most modern breweries in Central Europe. The brew-master Jaromír Janáček managed and maintained the family brewery until its nationalisation in 1948. A vast reconstruction of the whole brewery was completed in 1993. The Uherský Brod Brewery belongs to Pivovary Lobkowicz.

Draught at Vinarna Hrozen, Plzen.
The fourth beer of the Vinarna Hrozen tasting at the RBESG 2008. Transparent golden coloured, airy white head, light grainy dusty nose. Malty, nice hoppy and weak fruity taste with slightly sweet finish. Smooth and refreshing beer.

Beer no.4 of the Vinarna Hrozen tasting at the RBESG. Poured a dark golden body. Grainy and malty nose with some hops. A smooth malty taste, with a nice oily hoppy background. Some yeastiness. Very drinkable but nothing special.

Draught at Vinarna Hrozen, Pilsen. Almost clear golden, mid-sized brief head. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Clean and restrained flavourwise. Light oily orangey finish with medium bitterness, Not the beer that grabbed my attention at the RBESG sampling with 12 unfiltered Czech beers.

Bottle (Diky, Quack-Ducku !): Clear, deep golden to light amber coloured, mid-sized fluffy off-white head; caramelly, sweetish and toasted-malty nose; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; a bit drier in the caramelly-bitter finish. Solid and well rounded pivo...............

(bottle, diky Quack-Duck!) Slightly unclear, deep golden to amber colour with a thick and light-beige foamy head. Sweet, slightly buttery and fruity cara-malty nose with a discreet hoppy touch in the background. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate, slightly crispy carbonation. Robust cara-malty, bready taste, slightly buttery and subtle fruity with early arriving alcoholic notes; sweet and moderately bitter finish with light herbal hops and alcohol. Likeable Bohemian Märzen (05.05.08).

bottle from Galerie Piva. Clear golden colour, medium-sized fluffy head. Aroma of cherries. Bitter-fruity flavour, not sweet at all, rather dry and hoppy with a not very intesnive cherry flavour. This makes it taste like a cough drop. Interesting and unusual, but I won’t buy it again.
