Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.

Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

Just had to alias a listing to this iconic brew, funny how we forget how crazy popular this was. First pint at the Town Hill location with the wife, while waiting for our bbq order. Dark brown on black, opaque, thin cookie dough head. Approachable cocoa power nose, very mild soot. Dense bakers chocolate, brown bread, slight licorice. Fudge-y. Frothy. Noticeable acidity. Fading but constant earthy bitterness that lasts to the tail with a touch of carob. Sturdy & strong for 7%. No longer hype worthy, but an obviously well made beer. Cheers.

Another out in the heat at Town Hill. Clear, crispy, premium lager pour at the source. Buttery, grassy, white baguette nose. Steel hops, acidic but a little veggie-like, sour-ish olive oil. Okay when cold. 2.7 A couple days later I had it in a quick flight downtown & mostly enjoyed it: Clear, honey gold, lacy pour at the downtown tap room. Plain Cheerios nose. Soft baked bread, floral, light enriched sweetness, slight texture, soft bit consistent carbonation, Cheerio finish. Kinda good. 3.4

Clear, amber iced tea pint for my wife while waiting for our bbq order at the Town Hill location. Yeasty, half artificial blueberry muffin nose. Yeasty, bittersweet, floral blueberry essence, bitter Aspirin, wheat beer base. Strong forced carb that dies halfway through. Basically like every bad blueberry wheat out there. Notes from June 2011: 3.3 Best By October '11 notch. Rounded pint glass. Two AM, with a pile of leftovers to keep me & the beer company. :-) Darker then I expected. Clear orange/amber body. Inch of receding fizz. Smell is quite doughy upfront, accented with dried blueberries, & slightly zesty, leafy hops. Mild maltiness upfront, turning slightly tart when introducing the earthy blueberry flavor. Odd plastic/Band-Aid flavor creeps in. A little bit of butter develops as it warms. Mellow & dry, with bittergreen hops on the finish. Beer has a touch more heft then you would think. Prickly, strong carbonation, that falls out of solution rather quickly. Solid beer to keep the malternatives out of your cooler.

Can: Poured a golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with light wheat notes. Taste is a mix of light wheat malt notes with some cereal and light residual sugar notes.Body is about average with good carbonation. OK wheat ale but probably not seeking this one again.
