Description
Defying the odds isn’t just what we do, it’s a part of our DNA. We were founded by a woman in 1867. Lived through two wars. Survived a fire. Overcame the Halifax Explosion. Competed as an independent company against breweries 100 times our size. We haven’t just survived - we’ve thrived. And while others back down, we outlast. Moosehead Breweries Limited is the last major brewery in Canada still owned by Canadians. The brewery is located in Saint John, New Brunswick and operates with values that have been safely guarded by the same family for 148 years. Despite obstacles – devastating fires, Prohibition, the Great Depression, two world wars, obstructive trade barriers, and bruising competition from breweries 100 times its size – Moosehead is one of the most durable and long lasting companies in Canada. Ultimately it has been the Oland family’s passion for beer that has enabled them to be successful over the long term. With their product on beer shelves from the Maritimes to B.C., and its flagship Moosehead Lager shipped to approximately 350 distributors in the U.S.; Moosehead has become an iconic mainstay in North America’s beer industry

473ml can. Pours a crystal clear amber-gold with a medium, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Faint, sweet aroma of grainy malt and corn. Sweet flavour of toasted caramel malt, corn and grassy hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a thin, watery texture and soft carbonation. Not terrible, as it is easy to drink and thirst quenching, just boring.

# 1243; 12/2018. Docela slušný, jednoduchý ležák. Medový, obilný s jemnou kořenitou hořkostí.

350ml bottle. Malty grainy beginning. Easy to drink, grainy floral fruity. The malty body is quite deep with nice red fruity aroma, moderate bitter, refreshing and grainy in the aftertaste. Nice balanced, grainy refreshing.

Pours straw-yellow with a thin head. Acerbic aroma. Taste has very little of note, a little grassy malt. Palate has almost nothing of note. Bad.

Clean darker amber colour with a big creamy beige head, great retention and lots of creamy streaks. Caramel malt aromas, nuttiness and decent hops to balanced things. The taste is smooth with the blend of nuts and grassy hops, over fruity malts. Some nice grainy cereal malts are left on the tongue. Does nice justice to an Irish Red ale.

On this Christmas night, no peppermint canes - but a beer of it. Can that pours a clean amber colour with a big frothy-bubbly beige head that stays a while, leaving some nice lacing. Really smells like candy canes. A minty nose with the caramel malts giving added sweetness. The taste is more like an IPA with the grains showing well, and the mint adding a cool freshness to the flavours. Interesting, and well-brewed for the blend of styles.
