Description
Defying the odds isn’t just what we do, it’s a part of our DNA. We were founded by a woman in 1867. Lived through two wars. Survived a fire. Overcame the Halifax Explosion. Competed as an independent company against breweries 100 times our size. We haven’t just survived - we’ve thrived. And while others back down, we outlast. Moosehead Breweries Limited is the last major brewery in Canada still owned by Canadians. The brewery is located in Saint John, New Brunswick and operates with values that have been safely guarded by the same family for 148 years. Despite obstacles – devastating fires, Prohibition, the Great Depression, two world wars, obstructive trade barriers, and bruising competition from breweries 100 times its size – Moosehead is one of the most durable and long lasting companies in Canada. Ultimately it has been the Oland family’s passion for beer that has enabled them to be successful over the long term. With their product on beer shelves from the Maritimes to B.C., and its flagship Moosehead Lager shipped to approximately 350 distributors in the U.S.; Moosehead has become an iconic mainstay in North America’s beer industry

bottle - There isn’t much to say about this beer. It’s yet another mass market pale lager. Think Budweiser, except in my opinion it’s a little bit more flavorful. It’s still a fizzy, yellow, watery beer though.

Bottled (BB 06/2006)
Pale golden color, small white head. A bit skunky, grassy hoppy nose. Light to medium bodied. Sweet malty, even a bit sugary, some distant hops.

Bottle. Sour, skunky malt aroma. Pale yellow color with small head. Light sour malt flavor. Little body. Used to be one of the few "imports" I could get in my hometown - thankfully times have changed. Still like visiting an old friend though.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Deep golden but completely lacking head. Lightly sweetish, malty aroma. Sweet, malty flavours with notes of corn or other brewing cereals and a metallic edge. Not bad but rather bland. 051205 and 040792

Light amber with a light haze, creamy white head, lacing. Caramel malt aroma but not a whole lot of hops. Light sweet malty taste with thin metallic hops and very watery body. Boring.

Bottled. Tried to drink this while next to some idiot with a dog-turd cigar. Found this was a decent beer to cut through that stank. Pale pour with a decent head. Taste is okay cold, seems to suggest something of a cream ale. Feels like some adjuncts are at work, but it does aspire to some fullness. At there’s a decent balance with bitterness, but not enough to make me think "hops." Unexciting, but by no means the worst you’ll find at the bar.

Ah good ole Moosehead. I used to drink a lot of this back in my college days. It was one of my preferred beers back then. Of course that was many years ago and tastes certainly do change. Pours a bright golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is sour malt and had your typical macro characteristics. The flavor is sourish, sweet, tangy, slightly malty and perfumey. There is a light sweet malt finish. For a macro I find this one still to be surprisingly drinkable but certainly not a beer I would seek out.

This amber pours a dark orange with a bright white rocky head. Scents include grassy notes with sweet malt notes. First sip was slightly sweet but bland. Tastes like they put a small drop of cough syrup in the mix?! The finish was watery but a little bitter. The palate wasn’t really there.
