Bottled 375ml
Almost opaque color, small tanned head. Charming portwine-like fruity and brandy nose. Medium to full bodied. Roasted, chocolaty, hoppy in the finish, quite alcoholic. Liquerish palate. World class stout.

A red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with caramel being most dominant. The flavor is sweet roasted and malty, with notes of caramel. Surprisingly I find the body thin. Nice one.

Bottle - many thanks to mullet for bringing this over to Europe
Black bodied. Light brown head, which diminsihes totally. Nose of spices and malts (tofee, coffee). Moderately bitter, moderately sweet initial flavour. Lightly bitter finish. Very nice stout. I really enjoyed this beer.

Bottled. Golden colour, small head. Grassy hops up front. Malt sweet with firm but clean mouthfeel. Sugary finish with medium bitterness. Too sweet for me.

Cloudy bronw color, short brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, licorice, bit spicy. Roasted taste, very malty, some oatmeal? Bitter and malty.

Bottle. Black with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a slight roastiness. It’s got a full flavor (malty/roasty) with a clean finish. There’s a lingering hopiness, but overall it’s very easy to drink. Nicely put together. Maybe it’s because I’m so tired of over-the-top oatmeal versions of stout that I actually enjoyed this one.

Nearly black, with a two-inch deep tan head. A bit soured in the nose, not overly appealing. A decent flavor, but it's almost like "Stout Lite." Nothing special about this brew, though it's not bad.

2003 Bottle. Pours an opaque dark milk chocolate brown with a small tan head. Aroma is hugely roasted malt, lots of fresh barley, and some lightly sweet caramel notes. Flavor begins with an enormous amount of roasted malt. Tastes very fresh and unrefined, that is to say, VERY bitter. I like bitter stouts but even this was getting to be a bit much. Fortunately, the more it sat out and warmed (approaching room temp) the more sweet cocoa flavors began to emerge. Full body, low carbonation. Good rich, oily mouthfeel. The flavor was definitely oily black malt with some dry cocoa, sweet chocolate, and plenty of alcohol esters, quite vinous. This is about as good as any stout I've ever had. Like a cross between a regular roasty stout and a bigger imperial. Amazing beer if you are in the mood for a little less than an Imperial stout. Thanks, James (Mutant) for the chance to try this gem.

Dark brown with a rocky head. Roasty, toasty. Thin, with a touch of dryness. Makes promises it can't keep.
