375ml bottle. Some roasty aromas, vanilla, coffee and some grass. Taste backs up the aroma. Has some weight. Quite nice and well balanced. Still better than the 250 Anniversary stout I tried the other day. Much better than the nitro stuff. [3.2]Plain but solid. Very drying finish.

Black, good beige head. Very little aroma - maybe some malt and alcohol. Slightly syrupy. Deep roasted malts and port sweetness. Finishes with coffee bitterness. Complex dried fruit and cocoa tastes emerge as it warms to room temperature in the glass. Good, but really lacking in aroma. [3.5] 15C. I did wonder whether that one was past its best. It seems it was only further past its best than the others I’ve tried: this is bb 10/10 and quite different. This has port and lemon, some gentle roast malt and licorice. [3.9]Haven’t seen this in Melbourne for some time, so thanks to the bloke walking out of the Prahran Dan’s with the couple of slabs they get in for him specially for signalling availability. Very smooth well-integrated flavours - firm roast, coffee, molasses, raisins, port. Dries out at the the finish. Welcome reminder that the macro brewers can do very solid stuff if they care to.

Pitch black coloured body-very opaque-no light coming through at all. No head to speak of either. Aroma of chocolate, roasted oatmeal, black cherries & coffee. Medium to Full-bodied; Odd meaty & mushroomy flavour - very strong with some sweet tastes & a hint of vanilla soon following. Aftertaste shows a softer beer - but you do have to make it through the initial tastes. Overall, too strong - in a bad way, but it was nice to try after seeing it for the first time. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 03-September-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Canned(375ml). -Golden coloured, medium sized white head, grassy nose. Weak malty, light hoppy and bready with expected watery palate. Onedimensional industrial lager.

Thanks for hauling the bottle over Jim. Light sweet, a hint citric aroma. Dark golden, no head. Fairly watery, light grain, a hint hops, not offensive, but not particulary interesting either.

From bottle, no 16 at Papsoes blindtasting. Pours dark brown with lacing light brown head. Aroma is chocolate malty and with a note of whiskey. Dark and roasted malt with a slight liqourice edge and some chocolate smoothness following. Ends with a chocolate smoothness into the finish. Nice and smooth.

Black color; creamy head. Mild aroma, with some roasted malt and dark chocolate. Milky roasted malt flavor, but the sourness from the roasted malt is disturbing. Wrong.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of highlandlad. Pours a dark brown - almost black - with a vague, reddish hue and a creamy, light brown head. Vinous aroma of sweet, hard roasted malt. Medium body, rather sweet hard roasted malts with accents of dried fruit and a little port. Subdued bitterness with a discreet, ashy edge. Somehow I have a feeling that this is bottom fermented, but I may be wrong. Anyways, it’s an excellent Stout. 301107

Poured a deep, oily, thick black with a tan head that was foamy and faded. Smells really malty, made my mouth water, dark chocolate and soy in the aroma. Flavor is subtle compared to the appearance. Plums, brown sugar, molasses, caramel, toffee, malt malt malt. Finish is dry and just a little medicinal. Nice beer overall.

(375 ml can, thanks Monty84!) Clear straw yellow to golden color, big white head. Very sweet malty and grainy taste, a bit thin. Medium bitterness. Toffee aftertaste. A bit thin mouthfeel.
