Flesje gedeeld door Bart. Diep donkerbruin bier met mooie beige schuimkraag. Aroma is fruitig, en karamelachtig. Smaak van karamel en drop, ook zoetig maar de nasmaak is iets droog.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Ken. Pours deep brown with minimal tan head. Not bad, nice ashy roast, bitter dark chocolate, meaty dark malts. Medium to full bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more dark malts, nips of rubber, ash. Not bad.

27/X/18 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: n/a, bottled: 1/V/18 - (2018-1619)
Clear deep orange beer, huge towering and ever growing yellowish head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: little fruity, yeasty, quite some almonds, orange peel, cookies, sweet malts, I have the impression this is rather oxidized already. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very malty start, bit sweet, bitter, some banana. Aftertaste: bitter, oxidized, malty, bitter cookies (almond bitter), bit grassy. Not a big fan of this one.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours clear yellow with an unstable, thinning, foamy, white head; little lacing. Aroma of lemongrass, hay & straw, sourdough, unripe apple & mandarin, wheat, vinegar even. Taste is light to medium fruity sour, unripe apple, lemon, elderberry, a tad 'soapy' wheaty; bitter impressions of hay & grass; never really providing a sweetness to soothe that initial sour taste. Faintly grassy & I'd even say peppery hoppy finish, lingering fruity tartness, sourdough & hay, bit of an astringent metallic touch. Medium body, slick/oily texture, soft carbonation. Sessionable, yes, but didn't go well with some food (have to check up on my pairing anyways); that sour character is too strong.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy dark golden with a quickly thinning, off-white head. Aroma of yellow apple, unripe pear, fresh onion, breadcrust, hand soap, green tea, yeast, lime, white pepper, grass, weirdly some leek. It tastes light malty sweet, quite bready with fruity accents, apple & pear, touch of yeast, and light to medium hoppy bitter, bit spicy & grassy; sourish elderberry in the back. Dry, grassy hoppy finish, bit peppery, lingering spices & yeast. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Somewhat weird in aroma and not the best tastewise. The least convincing HB since 02; the other Hop Hanker was way better.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker; shared with Anke. Pours hazy dark brown, with a lasting, small, unstable, frothy, beige head; some lacing. Inviting and fruity aroma of raisin, ripe plum, candied prune, milk chocolate, cookie dough, mocha, cold tea. It tastes medium malty sweet, lots of ripe fruit, plum & prune, orange peel, some dough; sourish blackcurrant introduces a medium herbal bitter middle, tea-like, toasty accent with burnt brown sugar, already warming up. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, a bit earthy, warming liqueur alcohol & lingering malty fruitiness. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Well executed Quadrupel, nice fruity tones.

Sampled @ Borefts Pre-tasting. Opaque black color, small light brown colored head that diminishes quickly. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, chocolate, chocolate and some bitterness. Dislike the aroma but the flavor is ok. 6-3-8-3-15.
