Description
Hardywood officially began its mission to brew with purpose in late 2011 as one of only two craft breweries in the city of Richmond. Our original brewhouse and taproom was a vacant warehouse discovered in a long-forgotten neighborhood known nearly a century prior as Richmond’s German Brewing District. Hardywood has been drawing new life to this forgotten area one draft pour at a time. We now operate a 20-barrel brewhouse and taproom in the original location, as well as a 60-barrel brewhouse and destination brewery in the West Creek area of Richmond, right on the border of Goochland County.
Today, Hardywood continues to develop and deliver on its mission with a sharp focus on brewing quality, sourcing local, environmental stewardship, community engagement, and giving back.

Bottle - black pour with an oily sheen on top - moderate tan lace - a little on thin side for the strength, but not terribly so - heavy on the cinnamon and gingerbread, but the bourbon aging has smoothed out any possible rough edges - warming but not boozy - vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough - finish of bourbon and spicy cinnamon - a bit watery on the tail end - pretty good.

Honey, slight maple. Kind of disappointing to be honest. Heading to the party now. Everyone have a great rest of your day.
P.S. happy Hanukkah too. Missed that earlier in the week.

Like eating a gingerbread person. Slight ginger, cinnamon, some vanilla, and a smidgen of coffee to round out. Low key Christmas so far. Worked out, ate, need to fold laundry. Going to a party later. Merry Christmas everyone. 🎄

Hardywood Kentucky Christmas Morning BBA Christmas Coffee Imperial Stout 11.6% Inky black with a tan head. On cracking open the bottle there was a huge bourbon aroma. After a bit you get softly sweet pop astray stout with cinnamon aromas. The taste is a bit ascerbic and tart like a fruity coffee with soft spices in the finish. Good but not as stellar as the regular version. This tartness may be a result of the aging or it being a touch old, the body seems to have gotten thinner as well. Nice example of aging changes (had this since last summer). I’m gonna get the regular Christmas Morning for next year if I can, it’s a tradition I’m trying to start.

Boozy ginger, bourbon, sweet, smooth. Bready too. Absolutely bizarre weather day here. Was in the low fifties earlier, now down to 10°F, guess who thrives in these conditions? The maniacal Ghost!!!

Another departure from the stout base, though not as good as the barleywine. This beer had a lot of dried fruits, spices and a heaping pile of apples. Cinnamon, cherries. A touch too boozy, very warming.

12oz stubby, murky brown. Lots of spice and malt and tons of apple. Odd. Malt and earth then all the spice and apple. Off dry finish. 6 4 6 2 10
