Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal beige head. A somewhat repulsive aroma of cabbage / brussel sprouts. Watery in the mouth, but searching brings in roasted malts and liquorice with hints of dark fruits. These are more pronounced in the finish. A bit offputting really.

Calderdale Beer Festival 2019, Halifax. Near black, this is a strength first darker malty ale with its barrel ageing not too significant within this brew.

Calderdale Beer Festival 2019, Halifax. Golden, and hopped with a light sweetness, evident in both aroma and taste, also the brew hides its strength fairly well. There’s not a huge wood cask influence, but it certainly has an underlying one.

Near-opaque beer, decent off-white head. Smells of malt with a little coffee. Taste is toasty malt, some bitter coffee and a bit of chocolate. Not a lot else to it but for a porter of the strength it's pretty tasty. Could have gone a little more body but it's pretty drinkable.

Takeaway cask. Chantry Inn, Sheffield. Medium gold. Faint haze. Decent white cap, considering the dispense method: hand pump to jug, to plastic bottle, to glass. Nose has brioche type malts. Light citrus notes. Hint of buttery toast. Taste has a firm, citrus peel bitterness. Modicum of bready sweetness. Light body. Fine carbonation. Lingering light bitterness to finish. Caassskkk!!

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Hazy golden with a creamy head. There's nothing too Christmas about this but it's a nicely hopped pale ale with some citrus fruit.
