Very hazy deep copper and bronze coloured body with a thick three to four centimetre tall rich tan head. Aroma of pine, resin, grapefruit, citrus, with bunches of both malt and alcohol. Medium-bodied; Rich, astringent and medicinal flavours dominate, with a touch of alcohol, pungent resinous hops with a lot of pine and grapefruit, but also a good support of malt and a touch of sugars on the finish, from fruits and a tiny bit of candy sugar, all ending with a nice hop bitterness that isn't super pungent. Aftertaste is nice and rich, resembling that of a West Coast IPA or a nice old-school Imperial IPA with dank, fresh hop notes and some light sweetness with citrus, apricots and a great malt backbone. Overall, this one grew on me and shows very nicely at the end, but the smell and initial bite are a bit strong and medicinal. Great to try, especially fresh, of course! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 20-April-2020 for US$1,87 sampled at my house here in Washington, a few blocks away on 29-April-2020.

Bottle from Beer 52 April box. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma: roasted malts, chocolate, coffee hints. The taste follows, little metallic note, hints of burnt roast. Overall, it's sweeter than it should be for the style. Medium body, semi dry close.

Foamy white head stayed on a clear copper coloured still body. Minimal hop aroma. Medium bodied, tickly on the front with a dry back. Tastes like English hops with malt, jam & pepper tastes. Boring!

[12oz bottle from Beer52.] A straw coloured pour with a loose white head; musty citrus aroma; light bready body with a lemony citrus taste; and a rather acidic finish with some stone fruit in the background. A pleasant pale ale, on a beautiful summer evening.

355ml bottle; BB 28th Feb 2021. Poured into a thistle shaped glass at home on 3rd May 2020, during the virus Lock In; cheers Beer52 for these 12 beers from Virginia to keep me going! Black bodied, thin tan head that became a wisp and collar a bit too quickly for my liking. Aroma and taste however are 'spot on'. Malty and not 'too dry', nor over the top malty burnt-ness, or peat bog earthy. This is an easy drinking Stout and I really enjoyed it.
