Keg at the Maypole, Cambridge. Light gold, the tiniest bit hazy with a soft cloud of white filmy head. Intense lemon/grapefruit hit on the aroma, with a slight hint of resin and grass. Taste is incredibly bitter with only a hint of fruity sweetness hidden within. Incredibly bitter long finish resplendent with hop oils. Banana and lemon juice in the aftertaste. Wow.

Handpull cask at the Cambridge Blue. Golden, slightly hazy, with a filmy white head. Mild citrus and spicy yeast on the aroma. Tastes bittersweet turning to a more intense hoppy bitter. The lemon and rosemary are very pronounced. Long herby finish. Special.

Keg tap from the Cambridge Blue. Amber/copper, cloudy with a small white head. Spicy resiny smell with a fairly intense vegetal note. Bitter/savoury taste, again very spicy. Intense in an unbalanced way. Very bitter finish with some candlewax on the aftertaste. Way too much Sorachi, not my favourite TBM beer.

Gravity cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. Copper/brown with a dash of red. Slightly hazy with pronounced natural carbonation. Malt, black tea and a hint of orange peel in the aroma. Sweet malt-led taste underpinned by classic British bittering hop. Medium finish, thin body. Quintessential English cask bitter.

Gravity cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. Bright gold with a huge white head that takes a while to settle. Bags of natural carbonation. Smells of pineapple, apricot and a savoury note reminiscent of chicken stock. Full bittersweet taste with a hint of savoury. The long finish is noticeably bitter. Not as good as the regular Lonely Snake... Amarillo is an odd hop and while it works here on its own merit I can’t help but compare it - somewhat negatively - to the original.
