Cask at Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden on 13th April 2015. Hazy amber with thin off-white diminishing foam and initial lacing. Tart citrus aroma with tangerine and peel. Grapefruit and tangerine in-mouth with bitter orange peel. Tart citrus end with grassy notes and developing upper rear mouth bitterness. Full-bodied with an engaging texture.

Yellow-orange, clear, not a lot of head. Peach, apple skins and a bit of urinary funk in the aroma. Slight soap. Blanaced bittersweet taste with a hint of salt. Pleasant aftertaste. A bit odd, far from perfect by this brewery’s usual high standard, but still pretty drinkable.

Gravity cask at the Elysian Winter Beer Festival, Ely, 2015. Dark yellow. Not a lot of head. Bouquet of apricot, wood shavings, lemon drops. Bittersweet with a fruity bitter hit in the finish. Aftertaste is gentler. Nice pale ale.

Gravity cask at the Elysian Winter Beer Festival, Ely. Blackish brown. Golden syrup, liquorice and coffee in an enticing smell. Sweet taste with a decent bitter backbone. A by-the-numbers strong stout but I’m not complaining. A solid beer by any standard.

Gravity cask from the Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Slightly purplish brown, translucent. Wispy off-white head. Smells of grapefruit, grass... not the normal porter flavours. Could this be the infamous CDA in disguise? Taste is bitterly hoppy, only a hint of chocolate. Long bitter/sour finish. This is a new take on an old style.

Cask at the Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Burgundy/brown, clear and almost flat. Aroma of leaves, wooden sherry casks, late summer berries and the hintiest hint of rum. Taste is apple skin bitter, threatens to turn sweet but doesn’t. Ultra dry finish. Very well made from my local brewer.
