(Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 22 Apr 2015) Dark brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, hoppy nose with dark bread, coffee, pine needles and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark rye bread, pine needles and a generous piney bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made black IPA with a solid piney bitterness. Nice one.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 21 Apr 2015) Black colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, raisins, prunes, coffee and a generous roasted bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well made and tasty stout, almost leaning in the imperial direction. Nice one.

Cask at the Townhouse, Ely. Light gold, flat, very little head. Floral aroma with notes of citrus and butter. Incredibly hop-fuelled bitter taste, with a papery dry finish that manages to be intense without being acrid. An amazing amount of flavour for the ABV, more flavour than most beers of mid-strength. Impressive.

Cask at CBC Holborn, 20/04/15. Brown with ruby hues and topped with a moderate beige covering. Nose is sweet red berries, toffee, biscuit malt, light hops. Taste comprises earthy hops, light pine, caramel malt, sweet tunes, light perfume. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an earthy hop wash. Ok, just ticks the style boxes.

Craft near Tottenham Court Road war zone. Cask. Almost clear deep red- amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and light, mild fine carbonation. Modest caramel - toffee malts with a little creamy sweetness. Good marmalade hops with floral orange and mild red berry fruits. Mildly spicy pine. Light semi dry finish. Tasty and drinkable. But a CDA? Mmmm!
