Keg at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Light to mid-gold, hazy with a small spotty white head and a surprising amount of lacing. Smells strongly of peach but also grapefruit, lemon peel and some pine. Taste is sweet... at first. Then the bittering hops kick in with a bit of a vengeance. They're showing me who's boss, and I dont mind as it leads to a puckering finish. Not so much on the aftertaste but I dont mind as it leaves me wanting more. Pretty special.

Keg at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Cola brown, vaguely translucent, and as flat as I’ve ever seen on keg. Hoppy enough, but the two most recognisable scents are chestnut and litter box. Not as bad as I’ve made it sound, but not great either. Taste is bittersweet, slightly hoppy, slightly syrupy, slightly nutty. Thin, flat body. It started terribly and grew on me, but this is far from what TBM are capable of producing. A BIPA by the skin of its teeth, its no hop monster but rather an enigmatic, confused and frankly messy beer with good elements that shoot out but don’t dominate. Its complexity is less like Boulez and more like a third-rate prog rock outfit. Don’t avoid, but proceed with caution.

Keg at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Very hazy Amber gold, spotty head with a noticeable amount of lacing. Light toffee and tropical fruit notes, ever so slightly slightly funky. Taste is sweet and creamy with custard, lemon curd and fruit caramel hints. The sweetness fades and exposes the nerve endings of the bittering hop. Light papaya on the aftertaste. Worth a half surely, but not one of TBMs A-game concoctions.

Handpull cask at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Slightly translucent dark brown with a small ring of creamy white head. Heady chocolate milk scent, a touch of fruity hop backing it up but Im not getting so much orange per se. Sweet creamy initial taste turns to hoppy bittersweet mid-sip, and the finish is more bitter still. Bitter cooking chocolate and a touch of black cherry in the aftertaste. Fairly thin body, but its a mild so there you go. A drinkable mild.

Keg at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Orange-gold, hazy with a slight white half-head. Its fairly low on aroma: theres some coconut oil and a little bit of tropical fruit on the nose. The taste makes up for it: sweet and heady with the lemongrass to the fore, cut with the rounded creaminess of coconut. Finishes sweet with more. Coconut mixing with the gentle citrus hop. Medium carbonation. This is really tasty, one I could easily drink all night.

Tried at the Newark Beer Festival 2017. Deep chocolate brown colour aroma and taste are milk chocolate. Full body.

KeyKeg at the 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Dark brown and murky with a bit of beige head. The cherry is quite pronounced in the aroma; there’s some funk but it’s soft and not obtrusive. The sweet taste is balanced rather than cancelled out by the funkiness, with a sour note staying on the middle of the tongue long past the sip. More cherry and some chocolate on the aftertaste. This adds a subtle dimension to the original recipe. The flavours come out that little bit more. Glad I got to try it.

Gravity cask at the 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Dark, dark brown, only slightly translucent with very little head. Freshly ground coffee combines with chocolate milk in the aroma. Taste starts sweet, but then the sourness sneaks in and takes over. Sweet and sour interplay in the finish. Coffee, blackberry, plums and dark chocolate in the aftertaste. Worth seeking out.

Gravity cask at the Three Blind Mice bar, 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Reddish golden, very hazy with a touch of white film on top. Aroma consists of red liquorice with some freshly mown grass. The taste, while sweet and refreshing at first, turns surprisingly bitter and almost acrid for a moment. It’s a fleeting moment however, and the finish remains well-balanced with just enough bitterness in the aftertaste to make it last. Fruity wheat beers (and there are a lot of them at this festival!) don’t always work so well in cask. This is pretty average all in all.

KeyKeg at the 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Honey brown, hazy, a fair bit of visible carbonation and a small white head. Light but unobtrusive bergamot and hay aroma. Nicely balanced bittersweet taste. It starts sweet with delicate bitter hop balance. The bitterness then threatens to asset but the beer ends sweet, floral, fruity and refreshing. A bit run-of-the-mill for Three Blind Mice but still solid and very drinkable.
