Description
We are an award winning craft brewery, producing an impressive selection of delicious Craft Beer.

Born in 2013, Firebird was created by Bill and Richard who re-established an old friendship which began at The University of Birmingham’s Brewing School. Both studied for an M.Sc in Brewing Science and Technology and on completion went their separate ways. Bill to join and eventually run family firm King and Barnes in Horsham and Richard to continue his career with Courage and then a move into the Wines and Spirits Industry.

On making contact again in 2012 it didn’t take too many beers to realize that a joint venture in brewing was the only sensible thing to do! Soon a site was found in an old converted brickworks in Rudgwick and a brewing plant was purchased and installed. The first commercial beer Heritage XX was sold at the end of June 2013. 10 years later Firebird produces a large range of award winning beers and has a thriving shop and bar as well.

Cask at Christine's wake, at Dorking Cricket Club. Golden amber with a white head. Quite a full mouthfeel for the low ABV. Sweetish caramel malt is very well balanced by a crisp hoppy bite. Marmalade with grassy hints, honey and a sprinkle of herb. Very refreshing, went down very nicely whilst sat outside on a warm afternoon. Cheers to the wonderful and generous Christine, you will be very, very sadly missed.

Cask at the Beehive, LGW South Terminal. It pours clear golden - amber with a fluffy white head. The aroma is fragrant, floral hops, nutty, sweet, caramel/toffee, digestive biscuit and a touch of bread. The taste is firm and dry upfront, some bitterness, grassy, floral, biscuity malt base, peppery spice and a touch of soapiness. Average body and decent, lifting carbonation. Decent condition helps, but this is a bit average. Sweeter and more malt that I would like.

Bottle from Co-op, Eastbourne. Pours a clear golden/amber colour with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, spice, bread and biscuits. Taste has a lot more peppery spice, more caramel, bread and biscuits, hints of floral and a fair amount of earthy hops on the bitter finish. Thin to medium body with a slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Not bad.
