Salcombe Brewery Co.
Microbrewery
in Kingsbridge,
Devon,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Salcombe Brewery
Established in 2007
In September 2016 the business was purchased by a consortium led by city insurance specialist John Tiner and his wife Geraldine. They changed its name to the current one. In 2017 the brewery moved to the current location.
Salcombe Brewery Co. has stunning views towards the Salcombe Ria. The innovative new brewery is a unique concept situated above a decommissioned water reservoir, utilising the natural ambient temperature of the underground facility, making the brewery as energy efficient as possible. Together with the surrounding nature and views towards Salcombe, it’s a great place for local and visiting customers to enjoy.

Bottle from Darts Farm, nr Exeter. Gold with a rapidly vanishing white head and a rather aggressive fizz. Smell of green leaves, plant food and grapefruit. Taste is much the same, with a slight dryness and moderate bitterness. It's clean and crisp and refreshing, with a decent amount of hops for a UK gold, but I don't the flavour of the hops. I must learn what hop it is that gives this green leaf and plant food taste - which I also get and dislike in, for instance, Stella Artois and Wadsworth Henry's IPA - so that I can avoid beers with it in.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Cloin. Pours clear yellow-gold with a slim, foamy white head. The nose holds pale bread, hay, vague citrus, faint butter. Light sweet flavour with some bitter hay, husky grains, citrus peel, grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with more husky grains, faint butter, more straw. So so.
