Wigan Beer Festival 2026, Beer#3. Very dark, good body, some of its strength is evident, smoothish, quite a regular stout in design.

Hand pulled half pint at the Station Hotel, Oakengates on 8th December 2025, with Bertie, Margie, Auntie Sue, Ant and Maureen. Clean and clear golden body, snow white crown that hung around. Light citrus leanings with a floral and slightly earthy undertone. Decent, solid Pale Ale.

The year beer name means Britpop & GCSE's for me. Did ok. I wasn't visiting pubs then, but this visit has yielded a clear golden sweetish hoppy brew with a good body, and a good mouthfeel for it finishing with a very light bitterness.

Old rating - A half pint from the cask at the 2019 Beer & cider festival in St Helier, Jersey. Pours a amber colour with a white head. Aromas of malt. Tastes of caramel, touch of spice & malt. Medium body. Dry mildly bitter finish. Nice bitter.

Cask at Swan & Railway, Wigan. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a sizable (lively pour) frothy cream head and good lacing. Roasted malts ot the fore in the aroma, plus traces of liquorice and alcohol. Roasted malts again in the mouth where it is slightly sweet overall. Plenty of dark fruits in the flavour too, some rum and cola with hints of liquorice coming later. Finish is slightly fruity. This is quite nice – certainly plenty of flavour.
