Gravity dispense at Pigโ€™s Ear Festival 2008, London
Dark brown, almost black color. Sweet caramel aroma and sweet caramel flavor. There is also some nice hop and light yeast aroma, some chocolate flavor; smooth caramel brew, with a sweet caramel final, light fruitness, leaving a very pleasant trace of English hops. Very enjoyable.

Cask gravity at Pigs Ear 2008. Winner of the South East barley wine category. Black/dark ruby colour. OK dark fruit aroma. Oh dear, very alcoholic, doesnโ€™t hide its strength at all. Drank this side by side with the Stumpys Drunken Dog and the Stumpys wins easily. Some choc. Shares a lot of characteristics with the Stumpys except the drinkability. Not exactly a barley wine, more of an English strong ale. Still its quite good. Dried fruit flavours, some hop sting.

Cask@GBBF2008 (as St. Lawrence Ale). Amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Sour wood and berries in aroma along with some smoked wood. Flavour is much the same. Some oak as well. Bitter and dry in the finish. Something in the aroma and flavour makes me not like it too much
