Description
John Wilkinson owner & founder of 4T’s Brewery, worked as a drayman for Tetley Walkers (Warrington) and always explored the brewery grounds, from there he opened his own pub in 1998 called Wilkies Tavern which is now named The Tavern Sports Bar, which is a well-known cask ale pub in Warrington. His dream was to always start his own brewery and produce the styles of beers he loves.
Jordan Millington head brewer of 4T’s Brewery, worked at The Tavern Sports Bar since 2007 and always had a love for real ale. John gave him the opportunity to join the rising of 4T’s and he loves producing beers that everyone will love resulting in the slogan “satisfying taste buds everywhere”.

Straw blond colour with lasting head. Plenty of earthy and slightly skunky, resinous hops. Refreshing and easy to drink.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a chrome yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Has a fruity aroma with apples to the fore. Floral hops and summer fruits in the mouth. Not much else of note about it – swiggable.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a hazy lemon yellow with a substantial white head and good lacing. Has an aroma of fruit and malts. Mouthfeel is mainly floral hops and bitter lemon, but with traces of herbs, honey and citrus. Finish is fruity. This is nice enough but not massively hoppy.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a chrome yellow with a small white head and good lacing. A fairly strong aroma of floral hops which are also there in the mouth. The taste has a definite tang to it with grapefruit and tangerine featuring prominently, all on a creamy bed of cereal grains. Finish is sweet and dry. Nice enough, but a bit too citrussy for my liking.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. The venue confirms this was the version I drank !. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a plentiful dark beige head and excellent lacing. The nose was mainly chocolate malts with some vanilla thrown in. In the mouth the main sensation is extreme bitterness. It is smoky with ash and coffee grounds. There is also some juiciness like ribena and hints of aniseed. Finish is bitter and salty with juicy overtones. Really nice !

Half-pint by cask at Jewellers Arms. Shared with Finn. Upper part lacing from a beige head. Pitch black in the glass. Inviting smell of roasted malts, hints of dark chocolate. Flavoured with black chocolate back by coffee hints towards the ending, nicely roasted. Decent stout. (Birmingham 06.02.2020).

Cask at Hops, Crewe Pours just about black with a small beige head. A strong nose of all things chocolatey, including fudge and coffee grounds. Fudge and chocolate again dominating in the mouth, but also some fruit and biscuit flavours. Texture is sweet juicy, with a malty finish. Dangerously drinkable.

Third, cask, shared with Finn at Queens Crafthouse. Upper part lacing from a film-type layer, clear golden body. Moderate aromas of passion fruits and grassy hops. Mid-sweet passion fruity flavours followed with a dry bittersweet fruity end. Fair enough. (Doncaster 28.01.2020).
