Description
Monty’s Brewery is based just a short distance from the ancient castle town of Montgomery, on the Powys - Shropshire border. Monty’s Brewery was founded in 2008 by husband and wife team Russ and Pam Honeyman since then they have established the brewery as one of the leading breweries in Wales. Producing beers of many styles, with a focus on gluten free and low alcohol beers the brewery prides itself on its range having won many awards.

In this new world of sustainability and with a focus on the environment Monty’s is driving towards a more sustainable process. In the brewery we heat the water for each brew from the previous brew through plate heat exchangers, all helping to keep our carbon footprint down as much as we can. We don’t use any plastic in our packaging, and our waste grain, feeds local cattle, our first and last beer run-ins which would be a waste product are fed to a herd of Welsh Wagyu.

Cask at GBBF 25. Slightly opaque dark gold. Frothy foamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity with a slightly spur edge. Flavourwise it's also rather sweet. A hint of bitterness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice enough.

Keg at GBBF 25. Opaque amber-gols. Thick foamy white head. Aroma is sweet with a citrus streak. Tangy. Citrusy. Underlying malts. Before developing a metalic streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Hmm. Alright. Could do without the metallic elements and a tad unbalanced.

Old notes from Nov 2014 - A bottle brought from the Spar shop in Montgomery, only a couple of miles from the brewery. Poured into a Liberation Ale pint glass. It has a golden look with a white foamy head. The taste has a hint of honey and goes down quite easily with it's rounded finish.

Old rating - A 500ml bottle from Montgomery village shop in the spring of 2014, poured at home in Jersey 28/08/14. It's golden with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, citrus, grain, grass, bread & sweet malt. Medium body. Mildly bitter finish. Enjoyable, more a bitter than IPA that the bottle label states
