3rd June 2017: mini tasting session with my wife. 330ml can into a ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ badged stemmed tulip glass. Can BBD 1st Sep 2017, bought from a Waitrose store. Hazy golden yellow, white topping. Citrus notes in both the nose and taste, herbal traces too. Decent.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a cloudy, opaque golden with a small, white head. Extremely neutral aroma, hardly anything but a discreet whiff of flowery hops. Rich, sweet, malty body, almost feels a little overripe - bordering rotten. Very subdued bitterness. Not really their finest hour. 100517

Bottle 50 cl: Pale yellow with a slight haze and a small, white head. Nose a tad fresher and hoppier than in your typical German Lager - some US hops used? Medium body, malty sweetness yet fairly crisp, fresh and very quaffable with very downplayed bittering hops. 100517

Thanks Šime! Misty body. Classic yeasty lager aroma with some herbal touches, with a similar note in the taste, yeasty maltiness, herbal/spicy hop in the finish. Okay.

2016 catch up - Bottle at home - Very nice summer beer. Well made with plenty of malt and a good mouth feel. Would be good on a summer’s day, but perhaps a bit too much alcohol to be sessionable.

Almost clear deep golden colour, small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Aroma malts, bread, orange, apricot, light caramel. Taste mild sweet and bitter, malty, fruity, light peppery notes. Mild sweetbitter aftertaste, malty, bit earthy. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, nice pale ale.

Bottled. Golden colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity, some grass, mild herbs and quite bready malts. Flavour is citrus, grass, some crisp malts and mild floral and grassy notes. Quite basic, but still refreshing.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Hardly any hops at all in the nose, more typical flowery hops aroma - as is typical for any German beer. Medium body, sweet caramellish, bitter finish - but with no aromatics. As an IPA this is a joke. 030417

Bottle 50 cl. Pours golden with a slight haze and a small, white head. Nose has sweet malt and a little metal but very little hops. Malt base is unmistakably German as in sweet, clean hops. There is no more hops in this than in a German Urtyp or Edelherb _ i wonder if it’s even top fermented. Not bad, just nowhere near an APA. 030417
