Every now and then you try a bitter that blows you away. Gravity cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Reddish-brown, tranlucent, flat. Wood, strawberry jam, atrong tea in the aroma. Taste gives a sweetness with a jammy note, followed by a far drier finish. Thin body without much carbonation, but it allows me to comcentrate on the flavours dancing on my tongue: woody and slightly astringent notes with some savoury cooking herb in the aftertaste. Superb.

Sun Inn fest. Kelvedon. Cask. Light haze on this gold beer, no head. Dry palate, low to mild carbonation. Smooth malts, not that sweet at all. Whisper of smoke jumbled up with esrthy Rakau hops. Floral bitterness. Little ripe orange peel. Smooth bitterish finish. It's okay. Takes a few mouthfulls to get used to the rough edges.

1/2 pint on tap at Grove Ale House. Mahogany brown beer with foamy white head. No carbonation. Nose is mild caramel. Smooth mouthfeel. Tastes like a real mild to me! Sweet malt taste, lightly bitter finish. Right on style! Winner!
