Bottle from the Blue Glass, Bedford. Was 500ml before it gushed all over the countertop so I had considerably less than that. Cress, oak, sarsaparilla and some astringency in the aftertaste. Sweet taste at first but this turns bitter and medicinal closer to the finish with a herby vegetal note. Long vegetal finish. Not the greatest - has a feel of home brew about it - but it certainly hits the spot on a Saturday night.

Handpull cask at the Albion Brewery Bar, Northampton. Reddish brown and clear with a very small yet lively white head. Low aroma of earth, oak and a toich of toffee. Tastes sweet from the malt but only initially after which it becomes awash with bitter hops, leading to a leafy dry finish. Very basic but well done and in great condition.

Bottle from the Blue Glass, Bedford. Darkest brown and only slightly translucent and a light off-white head. Burnt malt aroma with hints of salt liquorice. Bitter, bitter taste with super roasted malt and some berry-laden hop in the finish. Black grape in the aftertaste. Flat body. Not a typical Black IPA but I found this surprisingly good.

Bottle from Blue Glass, Bedford. Listed as 9.5%. Mid-brown. Swamp-water murky and flat. Figs, raisins, some caramel and burnt toast in the aroma, hovering over the heady smell of naked booze. Sweet and heavily alcoholic, with a gritty bitter hoppiness giving a more balanced finish. Aftertaste of prunes, toffee and charred meat. Flat, thin body... surprising for a beer of this strength. Not bad but there are issues.
