Bottle from the brewery shop in Metz - many thanks to Anke! Pours clear dark golden with a lasting, unstable, foamy, white head. Aroma of peat, rubber, smoked ham, apple peel, green olive, vegetable oil, paprika, pineapple, fried onion, toasted white bread. Taste is light fruity sweet, apple & banana accompanied by lots of smokiness, umami notes of green olive & oil, herbal bitter core of of pepper, onion & paprika on a bready, yeasty, bit toasty base. Dry, smoky, herbal hoppy finish, lingering ham with an effect of burnt wood. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Well-made Smoked Ale, nice introduction to this brewery, it seems like they know what it's about nowadays.

Bottle at home, thanks to Alex for bringing it from Metz. Almost clear golden with not much head (yeah yeah). Bready malts, light grassy and herbal, but also some licorice root (?), dried fruits, light mineral and metallic. There's a lot going on, but also in a damp earthy and metallic way that I don't like muh, like some slightly unpleasant apricot skins or something. Medium sweet and bitter, medium bodied with oily feel and soft but fizzy carbonation. OK.

Bottle shared thanks to Alex. Bit hazy amber with fluffy light beige head. Lots of fresh dank weedy hops, grass, dusty herbs. Lots of U.K. ale malt, soft caramel as well. Close to my last homebrew actually, which also had a weird dusty strawberry note like this beer which is not from the yeast but probably from the malts. Medium sweet and solid bitter. Medium bodied with slight oily feel. Again, it’s quite close to me own latest homebrew, which is nice, but maybe they could do a little better for a commercial brewery.

Bottle. Pitch black with a huge beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits and dark chocolate. Taste is roasted malts and red berries with a bitter chocolate finish and just a small note of coffee. Strong carbonation. Alright.

Bottle. Color: Clear golden, white head. Aroma: Medium sweet, malt, fruity and floral. Taste: Medium sweet, malty, grainy, hints of yeast and yellow fruit, peach and white sugar. Herbal and floral notes. Moderate bitterness. Slightly sirupy. Medium body, average carbonation. The Winter-R is better in my opinion.
