500ml bottle from Gloucester Services on the M5. Hazy deep golden colour with a foamy bridge head. The aroma is malt and hops, the taste is too but a touch watery.

500ml bottle from Favourite Beer, Cheltenham. Very dark brown with off white head. Aroma has dark fruit. The flavour has roasted malt caramel, and a touch of sweetness. Very lively.

Bottle from Gloucester Services, M5 northbound. Dark brown, with a billowy, yet short-lived beige head. Sweet, malty and dark fruit aroma, with a hint of roastiness. Easy drinking and malty for a stout with just a touch of toast in the finish. Good.

Bottle from Gloucester Services. Amber in colour with a slight, white, head. Leafy hop aroma, with a touch of orange and stone fruits. Easy drinking, with some biscuity malts, more fruits and a powerfully bitter finish. Enjoyable and traditional.

500ml bottle from Gloucester Services. Gold colour with white head. Aroma has fresh citrus hops. Taste has a fruity hoppiness that I like.

Cask-conditioned, served by gravity at the Tewkesbury winter beers festival, 7/2/2014. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, milk chocolate, followed by some black coffee and a faint lactose tang, before a dryish finish. Good.

Pigs Ear, The Round Church, Hackney. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, residual white head. Light dry pale malt, slightly raw - grainy. Mellow marmalade citrus. Light finish. Standard sfuff and flirting with dull.
