12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, brown color, with a small, beige head. The nose is toffee, cane sugar, pecans, and some strange perfume. Sweet and malty, with a light bitterness. Easy and pretty nice.

Draft at ABQ brewpub. Black pour, still, flat. Light sweet vanilla in the aroma. A bit of the roast comes through in the taste, more vanilla and the lactose is hard to find.

12 oz bottle from Total Wine. Golden pour, light haze, skimpy white head. Aroma is hoopy, light, woody, grassy. taste amps up the hops a bit, offering a nice bitter bite and overall snap. Dry, chalky finish.

I discovered Alien IPA on tap at a cafe in Santa Fe, NM and later bought a 12 oz bottle at Total Wine. It delivers a bright yellow, see-through liquid completed by a touch of white foam. It tastes of citrus, an interesting honey sweetness and has an appreciated hop-forward presence (meaning it is not NE style). Nice effort.

Sierra Blanca was an unknown brewer to me until dinner the other evening in Santa Fe. Today I try their amber ale in a 12 oz bottle. Chilled well and pouring into a shaker glass, it appears a dark amber in color sporting a thin, light tan head. The nose is caramel, cereal and a bit medicinal. And the taste, malt, some hops, grain and a small sweetness. Not bad. Just uninspiring. It might benefit with a slice of lime.
