United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Odd Side Ales
Established in 2010
Our story began in 2010, as a micro-brewery producing craft beer from our pub located inside the historic piano factory in Grand Haven, Michigan. We quickly outgrew the pub’s brewing capacity and now, after three different expansions, brew from our own 44,000 sq. ft. facility.
Our main focus is to creatively stay on the leading edge of craft beer styling. While maintaining a large core of year round and seasonal favorites, we strive to introduce new recipes that push the boundaries of flavor combinations and craft beer categories. Everyone at Odd Side Ales is here because they have a true love of craft beer, the industry as a whole, and the people who drink and enjoy what we are able to do each day!
Beyond Michigan, we now distribute to Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. We hope to continue our growth, expanding our reach even further, and share our craft as far as possible!

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but should be fairly fresh. Pours hazy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with inedible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, peach, light pine, floral, grass, wheat, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of hop and malt notes; and good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, orange zest, orange rind, lemon zest, pine resin, floral, grass, wheat, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Good amount of spicy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pine resin, floral, grass, wheat, light caramel, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Good balance and complexity of citrus hop flavors; with a light-moderate malt balance and some light cloying pine bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very good hoppy wheat ale. Good balance of citrus/pine hops with a light-moderate malt balance; very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
Lotsa hops

Pours a fully hazy pale amber golden with a large white head. Strong pine hop aroma, resinous, with grassy and citrus backings. Similar flavors, more grassy than citrusy, with just a hint of malt. A simple but good pale ale.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a medium white head. A rich floral nose with some citrus. Smooth, light flavors, low bitterness, citrus, grapefruit especially, orange peel. Very nice. Both a big beer and isn’t meant to be.

12 oz bottle as Citra Pale Ale. Pours a hazed orangey golden with a couple particles of hop debris and a white head. Grapefruit orange hop aroma with a touch of pine. Flavors of bright grapefruit hoppiness, orange and lemon, some toasty malt background and a touch of pepper. A well-done, tasty APA. Really nice, especially on a hot, humid night like this.

Bottle in trade. I am really trying to figure out what people DONT like about this beer! Pours cloudy yellow amber with a lot of floates and a medium off-white head that leaves some lacing. OK, not a great start. Aroma is classic simcoe - nice grapefruit and pine aromas bursting from the glass. Flavor follows, perhaps a bit watered down given that this is a session beer, but otherwise nice. Body is light, not surprising. I could drink a few of these on a hot afternoon and be quite happy about it.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 12/10/2018. Pours slightly hazy medium golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/light earthy hops, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/light earthy hops, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 5.75%. Overall this is a fantastic single hopped American pale ale. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/light earthy hops, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Perfectly balanced juicy, vibrant, dank, and fairly earthy Citra hop complexity; with a great bready pale malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin drying. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example. One of my favorites.

Bottle. Pours clear amber orange with a large off-white creamy head that dissipates slowly with nice sticky lacing. Aroma is quite nice - citra all the way, grapefruit, resin, passionfruit. Flavor is about the same. quite nice actually, little sweetness, medium bitterness. Light body, a bit oily and watery at the same time (yes I know those dont mix!). Quite good - yet another winner from michigan!
