Description
Odd Side Ales is a family of gifted individuals, focused on the shared goal of crafting unique products, while maintaining the utmost quality.

Our story began in 2010, as a micro-brewery producing craft beer from our pub located inside the historic piano factory in Grand Haven, Michigan. We quickly outgrew the pub’s brewing capacity and now, after three different expansions, brew from our own 44,000 sq. ft. facility.

Our main focus is to creatively stay on the leading edge of craft beer styling. While maintaining a large core of year round and seasonal favorites, we strive to introduce new recipes that push the boundaries of flavor combinations and craft beer categories. Everyone at Odd Side Ales is here because they have a true love of craft beer, the industry as a whole, and the people who drink and enjoy what we are able to do each day!

Beyond Michigan, we now distribute to Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. We hope to continue our growth, expanding our reach even further, and share our craft as far as possible!

Bottle. Black body with a frothy tan head. Aroma of cigar, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, cedar, roasted malts. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Medium to full body, creamy/chalky texture, moderate carbonation. Rich, dark chocolate taste along with cream and vanilla. Notes sweet coffee. A beer malt in flavor and texture. This bottle was slightly oxidized, so there were notes of wet cardboard and chalk. Otherwise, an enjoyable sweet stout.

Bottle. Hazy straw body, thin to medium clumping cream head. Earthy, herbal, candy corn nose with diacetyl notes. Bready, caramely body with the same diacetyl notes that pretty much ruin the experience.

Bottle @ Armin’s palace. Thanks to Steve_0 for sharing. Pours a dark brown appearance with a thin brown head. Celery and green pepper, cinnamon, dark chocolate aroma. Spicy veggie, huge vanilla bean, cinnamon, chocolate flavor. Kind of a mess and not too enjoyable.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Rich roasty coffee aroma with dark cocoa. Flavor is weaker, dark cocoa with a bit of smoky pepper heat and some spice, probably the nutmeg. It’s alright, but all the flavors are just too weak in general.

Bottle courtesy of Another6Pack. Thanks, Trent!

This pours a medium gold with a +2 finger head of foam.

The nose is interesting...notes of chocolate and light coffee. Maybe? some bready malt aromas. Yes, I think so. Weird smell to this brew but I have to say, it’s inviting. The more I thought about it, the more I think it has kind of a brownie smell to it.

It has a very nice coffee flavour up front with more or less hints of chocolate. Not much hop bitterness that I can detect; all of the bitterness seems to be coming from the coffee. I’m digging it now that half the glass is gone.

Good mouthfeel and easy drinking, this would make for an excellent breakfast beer for those folks in Odd Sides’ distro area. 4.5% abv..you got the right idea!
