Description
Odd Side Ales is a family of gifted individuals, focused on the shared goal of crafting unique products, while maintaining the utmost quality.
Our story began in 2010, as a micro-brewery producing craft beer from our pub located inside the historic piano factory in Grand Haven, Michigan. We quickly outgrew the pub’s brewing capacity and now, after three different expansions, brew from our own 44,000 sq. ft. facility.
Our main focus is to creatively stay on the leading edge of craft beer styling. While maintaining a large core of year round and seasonal favorites, we strive to introduce new recipes that push the boundaries of flavor combinations and craft beer categories. Everyone at Odd Side Ales is here because they have a true love of craft beer, the industry as a whole, and the people who drink and enjoy what we are able to do each day!
Beyond Michigan, we now distribute to Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. We hope to continue our growth, expanding our reach even further, and share our craft as far as possible!

Very nice crisp amber coloured body with a copper glow and a perfect three centimetre tall off-white and tan head - this looks great. Aroma of bright grapefruity, pine and slightly resinous hops, some pineapple and a bit of caramel malt, some light cleanser and a touch of bubble gum and lemons. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong initial hop flavour with some grass, pine and herbal notes coming through and then fading to a smooth and crisp wheatie flavour, all with a lot of floral and grassy hop notes throughout. Aftertaste shows some hop bitterness, a hint of caramel malt and a light alcohol overtone. Overall, a very nice wheat based IPA with quite a lot of grassy and herbal bitterness throughout, but leaving the palate dry and clean and a relatively smooth showing. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-September-2013.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, cinnamon, nuttiness, cream, light pepper, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt with coffee and spice notes; with great strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, cream, light pepper, and roasted earthiness. Light coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, cream, light pepper, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with coffee and spices; with great robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Some light pepper heat builds up on the finish near the end of the glass, but it is pleasant. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced stout! All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of malt, coffee, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Opaque dark brown beer, few tan bubbles for a head. Smooth and viscous palate. Slightly tangy dark malts with fruity coffee. Sweetish vanilla brings up the rear. Smooth finish. Nicely joined up.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but was released recently. Pours lightly hazy and cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger foamy and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a lot of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big nutty coffee, vanilla, cream, light bread, floral, and light grass. Awesome aromas with big presence of coffee and malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big nutty coffee, cream, vanilla, bread, floral, and light grass. Light coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of nutty coffee, vanilla, cream, light bread, grass, and floral earthiness on the finish for a bit. Awesome robustness of coffee/cream flavor with a fair amount of malt balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is great. Hardly any alcohol presence after the finish as expected for 4.5%. Overall this is an outstanding coffee blonde ale. Great robustness of authentic coffee/cream flavor; and extremely smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Tasted sample from a bottle. Wow, they aren’t kidding when they say "with coffee." It just tastes like coffee poured in a beer.
