Fra flaske på Mi2 (sommeravslutning) på Cardinal juni-17: lett uklar rødlig mahogny med flott skum som varer. Torvrøyk og einer i både aroma og smak - dette minner om interiøret på Sjøfartsmuseet var en av kommentarene. Snev av salt? Mørke karameller og urter, og den vinner seg i glasset. En god bock i Bamberger-stil, med god maltsødme, selv om kamufleres noe av røykmalten. Mørk, robust ettersmak. Passer sikkert godt til norsk tradisjonsmat, f.eks fenalår med nypoteter? 7-4-7-4-14.

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours hazy brown with almost no head. Aroma of smoke, caramel, some licorice, some notes of juniper. Tastes sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium bodied.

330 ml bottle, from Helgø Meny, Sola. ABV is 4.7%. Amber to brown colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Malty and spicy aroma, hints of orange peel and liquorice. Moderately malty flavour, not very sweet, mild spicy notes, again with hints of orange peel and liquorice root. Decent beer.

Tap. Pours hazy chestnut, medium creamy tan head, great lacing. Aroma is smoky, woody, juniper, malty, toffee, dark bread, raisin. Flavors is light plus sweet, very light bitter, medium smoke with a persistent herbal flavor and a slight sourness. Medium body. This is far from true to style, but it is quite pleasant on its own merits.

Bottle, one year before bbd. Pours slightly hazy yellow, with a big creamy head. Aroma is pleasant floral hops, with a light zest and some peachy notes, as well as malts with bread, toffee and honey. Medium body, with average to fizzy carbonation. Flavour is hoppy notes, with bitter herbal citrus and floral notes, as well as malts with cereals.

Bottle, at Duggfrisk. A dense, finger-thick beige head sits on top of an unclear dark orange colored beer. Caramel, some oak notes and vanilla in the aroma. It’s full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with a malt dominated flavor of caramel borderline toffee, some notes of dark dried fruits, vanilla and a subtle oak touch. Long finish. Sure drinkable and far from bad, it just didn’t suit my palate. 160820
