Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear 2014. It pours murky deep amber with a bubbly beige head. The nose is rich, spicy, fruit cake, earth, musty, leather, wood and orange peel. The taste is bitter-sweet, spicy, stewed orange, tangerine, marmalade, tangy fruits, candy and light Irn Bru thing going on. Medium body and fine carbonation. Chilli not as strong as anticipated. Interesting and I liked it.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Hazy amber beer, untidy pale cream colour head. Palate is comparatively light and has mild fine carbonation. Light sourness. Nice zippy cherry and blackberry, little blackcurrant. Trace of acid. Finishes crisp. Not sure about it’s Old Ale status but this is tasty and drinkable.

Cask (Nottingham Beer Festival 2014) - Dark brown in colour. Mint, chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Chocolatey and minty taste with roasted malt, chocolate and mint detected. Interesting but might get a bit sickly after a while, even though it’s not that strong in terms of the abv.

Tried at the nottingham beer festival 2014. Dark almost black with off white head. Coffee, Cocoa roasted malt. Didn’t really taste the blueberry. big sour finish.

Tried with the brewer at the Nottingham Beer Festival 14. Pale golden beer. Strong IPA, but very easy to drink. Big hoppy taste and flavour, with a real balance. Best beer of the day.

Gravity cask at Bedford Beer Festival. Golden brown and cloudy. Scent of champagne vinegar, scrumpy apples, cedar. The taste is initial sour-bitter fading to sweet. The salt predominates though, and creates a complex experience on the tongue. Fantastic stuff. Medium palette with a balanced (if slightly too sweet) finish. An exceptional recipe.
