Description
Bexar County Brewery was born out of the need for newer more creative beers to be produced in England. The days of only having a handful of styles of beers to drink are ending, and we are part of that change. A beer revolution is occurring, and I am proud to be on the front lines.

Please have a look around. Here you will find loads of useful information (and plenty of rubbish as well) about the brewery as well as updates on beers being produced and where you may find them.

Cheers!

KeyKeg at 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Dark brown with a hint of purple. Small amount of khaki head. Strong coffee and dark cooking chocolate in the aroma. Taste, wow. It is as sweet as love. A strongly sugared Cuban coffee with well-hidden booze. The finish is a trifle more alcoholic, and I feel the strength in my gut when I swallow. Slick creamy body. It is a gorgeous coffee stout with near-perfect balance.

Gravity cask at Cambridge Beer Festival 2017. Dark brown, bordering on black. Bubbles of tan head. Coffee, coffee, charcoal and coffee in the aroma. Sweet tastwith fudge, cortadito, some yeast extract. Finish is notably more bitter and the body is slick and oily. It’s a good cask imperial stout.

Cask at the Reading Beerfest, although not listed in the festival programme. Black with a thin? tan head. Chocolate and coffee flavours throughout. Exceptionally smooth and very easy to drink - dangerously so, you wouldn’t know how strong it was. Maybe lacks a bit of depth compared to some impys but nevertheless it’s a very nice stout.

Cask at the Reading Beerfest. Brown-black in hue, with a negligible head. A touch of toasty choc at first then very obvious and lightly tart raspberry before smooth creamy vanilla kicks in. They’ve definitely got the neapolitan ice cream thing licked here. However the hint of roasted malt and the light raspberry sourness stop it being too sweet. Although it’s definitely a novelty beer, it’s tasty, well-balanced, unusual and very drinkable - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oddly the friendly old CAMRA fellow who served me insisted that the main flavour I should be tasting was coconut - definitely raspberry and cream I thought.

Cask at Cambridge Winter Beer Festival, Friday 20th January 2017. Lots of sourness on the nose, lactose. Hazy, murky brown, nice some spiciness, its ok, it’s a tad gimmicky. A6 A2 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

Gravity cask at the 2017 Cambridge Winter Ales Festival. Dark brown with a tiny bit of khaki head. Aroma of soy and cooking chocolate. Beef OXO cubes. Hints of slate and liquorice. Bittersweet chalky taste with just a touch of sour. The finish is a wall of dry, suitably for the style. Thin body with cacao nibs in the aftertaste. A decent stout.

Gravity cask at Cambridge National Winter Ales Festival 2017. Mid- to dark brown, translucent with a very loose beige head. Sour chocolate milk aroma with mothballs and a hint of strawberry yoghurt. Taste starts as a sweet/sour interplay with spice, vanilla bean (well done, I got all of the Neapolitan flavours) and a slight eggy whiff. Thin flat body, although the the strawberry shortcake finish made up for that. Verdict: extremely well-made, so I’ll forgive it for being a bit too clever for its own good.
