Established in 2016 in Elsdon, the heart of Northumberland. The First & Last is an award winning, family-run, microbrewery. We brew small batch cask-conditioned and bottled beer. Our beers are inspired by the wild, untamed landscape and starry skies of Northumberland.

25/1/2019. Cask at the 10th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours dark ruby brown with a bubbly off-white to beige head. Aroma of damson jam, chocolate, malt and fruit with a light roasting. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, sligth oily texture, soft carbonation. Dry, light chocolate and damson finish. Pretty good.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018, day one, 04/12/18. Golden pour with a light haze and topped with a decent off white cap. Nose is mellow citric pith, grassy tones, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises tangerines, melon, light breads, grass. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Ok easy drinker but low end for the style.

Cask gravity at the pigs ear beer festival 2018. A clear golden yellow coloured pour with a a loose white head. Aroma is earthy cereal, honey, rubber, pithy. Grassy hop. Flavour is composed of, lemony zippy hop, grassy citrus, wheat, pineapple,. Lingering cereal grains.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018 - London. Day 1. Pours clear yellow-gold with a small, foamy white head. Dry and pithy, some biscuits, lemon peel, straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Dry finish, soft grass, more lemon peel, straw. Solid.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Light haze on this gold beer, small bubbly white head. Light dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Tangy pale malts. Touch of sulphorous skunk. Mild floral bitterness. Little citrus. Dry and bitterish finish. Passable.

Draft at pigs Ear. Medium, clear amber, ring of bubbly head. Aroma is malty, big and full. Taste continues with more caramel malts and gentle bitterness. Slick and creamy.

ABV: 4.2%. Cloudy dark black - red brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, dark malt, sweet malt, chocolate - milk chocolate - light to moderate vanilla. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, dark malt, chocolate, sweet malt, milk chocolate - vanilla. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20181018]
