Keg tap at the King's Head, Leicester. Dark brown, almost black, with a small but thick tan head. Smells of coffee and tar liquorice, but it's also got a metallic note. Simple bittersweet taste, turning slightly sweeter in the finish with caramel overtones. Heavy carbonation. Not overly exciting but really solid.

Keg tap at the King's Head, Leicester. Dark golden, hazy with plenty of visible carbonation. Strong aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, melon and dried banana with some bready notes. The taste is gentler: sweet and mildly hoppy with more of a bitter juicy bite toward the finish. Heavy carbonation but it works for this beer. A lovely APA.

Keg from Castle Tap, Reading. Mid- to dark mahogany brown, translucent, with a small cream-coloured head. Belgian yeast, candy sugar, allspice and dried currants in the aroma. Sweet taste with molasses and brandied fruit, with a touch of earthy hop rounding out the finish. A tough style to pull off, but they absolutely nailed it.
Lots of plum, not getting the rosemary so clearly, but a nice savouriness here

Bottle from Upton Smokery, nr Burford, Oxfordshire. Chestnut-hued with a thin beige head. The fizz is rather prickly for my liking but does eventually die down a little to reveal a smooth full mouthfeel. Chocolate, a little banana and plum, some roasty malt and a light spiciness. Generally sweetish but with a light dryness at the end. I thought I'd gone off Belgian styles but this is pretty good.

Bottle from Drunk Dry, Kidlington, Oxon, consumed at home Thursday 6th July 2017. Very dark brown with a slim light beige head, slight murky appearance. Nice softness, the chocolate is lovely it’s smooth, creamy and with a little light cocoa dusting. The raspberries come through afterwards offering a little tart fruity tang. Bloody lovely. Bottle from The Angel, Bicester, consumed at home Thursday 11th May 2017 whilst making a Ranch Dressing. Pours straw coloured, perhaps heading towards a warm gold with a white head. Soft mouthfeel, a hint of mineral, flint and steeliness in the mouth. I really like this, I cannot recall how close this is to a Kolsch but I like it regardless. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle from The Angel, Bicester, consumed at home Thursday 11th May 2017 whilst making a Ranch Dressing. Pours light/mid gold with a foamy white head. Soft mouthfeel, light fruity taste a little bit of a corny edge, likeable beer but I much prefer others in the core range. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2
