Bright clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and a little crisp. Smooth malts, semi sweet with some grain. Modest floralness precedes marmalade. Light finish. Jaw Brew do like the malt. This one went quite well with spicy food.

Cask at winstons. Pours hazy pale gold, thin white head. Aromas of banana, light spice. Tate is light sweet, banana bread. Slightly oily texture, thin finish. Flat.

Bright clear gold beer, decent white head. Very malty nose. Palate is smooth and dry. modest carbonation. String pale malts that brings a mellow sweetness. Mild floralness precedes a little spicy orange and a trace of marmalade. Dry finish. Pale malts and mild marmalade linger on. Pretty malt dominated but fine.

Bottle from Drinkmonger. Dark brown body with a thin beige head that quickly fades. No lacing. Aroma of raisin, rich malts and Coco Pops dust. Flavour of milk chocolate, toffee, roasted malts and an astringent finish. Thin body with a watery mouthfeel. Flat carbonation. Pretty basic. This is more of a Porter than a Mild Ale.

Bottle from Drinkmonger. Hazy golden body with a thick off-white head. Lively carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of peach flavoured Angel Delight, apple pie and plastic toys. Flavour of apricot, grass, lemon and biscuit. Thin body with a watery texture. Light fizz. A simple beer. Probably not one I’d buy again.

Bottle. Opaque black beer with absolutely no head even when I tried to force one. Not a good look. Smells a lot stronger than it is too, with an alcohol smell almost overwhelming malty fruit and chocolate. Looks woeful, bad smell, we’re not off to a great start here. Fortunately the taste redeems it somewhat. Malty chocolate, fruit. Quite mellow. Unfortunately it’s a touch flat and I’m guessing the bottle is duff given it’s had decent ratings which don’t sound anything like mine. Decent enough chocolate aftertaste. I can’t really give it a good rating but I would like to try it again if I got the chance.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate, light coffee. Creamy backdrop. Taste - more of the same. Great chocolate notes. More like milk chocolate this time. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long elegant finish. Overall - it’s good. Shouldn’t this be a porter in style?
