Cask. Very deep brown colour, close to black, with a small off-white head. Aroma is resin, liquorice, some toffee, caramel, spices and quite sharp edged. Flavour is very similar, and seems to have most of the stouty elements, but is a bit edgy, due to the lack of a proper malty body.

Cask at the Victoria, Rugby - 12/12/12. Light black with a good tan head that retains well. Good lacing follows. Nose is a little subdued, dark fruits, malt, touch of liqourice. Taste develops a little from this, dark malts, touch of coffee, light hoppage, metallic tones. Medium body with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate. Decent enough stout.

Cask-conditioned at the Staffordshire Beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol 6/10/10. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Malty aroma of caramel, hedgerow fruit and grassy hops. Flavour was sweet, with bready malts, plenty of fruit and a decent bitter finish. Good.
