An amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is nicely grassy and hoppy - Cascade clearly present. The flavor is sweet malty with an OK grassyness from Cascade hops, and a dry end.

2005 bottle. Have had a few of these on a number of different occasions. Pours a amber-beige to dusky brown color, with an off-white to beige colored head, pretty well retained, though rather small, little lacing. Clear and filtered (surprise!). Aroma of brown sugar, wet, green hops, raisins, prunes, cinnamon and caramel. Flavor is your basic sweet caramelly malt, raisins, brown sugar and some very astringent dryness, perhaps from some lightly toasted/roasted malt. Hint of dry berry-like fruitiness, quite sugary though with a medium-full body overall, typical force-carbonated texture. The only thing I enjoyed was the very well hidden alchool. Almost don’t believe it’s 11.3% Just pretty boring, overall though. Not poorly made or anything. Reminds me of an amped up Nuevo Noir minus the Belgian yeast and spices. Ok so that dosent really say much. But it’s just boring caramel/brown sugar, nuts and dates. Lots more hops though, than Nuevo noir, obviously. But the base malt character is bland, IMHO.

Bottle with a big thanks to the Pitonkatonk for the trade. Consumed on 9/24/2005. Pours a sandy brown with a light copper sheen to it, hints of dark chestnut red tinges. Head is initially medium-sized, lightly fluffy, but not terribly good retention. Little to no lacing left behind as well. Aroma of light walnut skins, brown sugar, a bit of dark candi sugar and simple, but not overdone/meaty yeast. Quite clean. Flavor is heavy on the nuts, raisins and brown sugar, with a slight hint of syrup/stickiness on the palate, maybe from the candi sugar or brown sugar, or whatever sugar they used. Dries out quite a bit on the end, with light fruity phenols, a bit too sharp. Not very complex, the sugariness just sort of takes over the more you drink. I don’t get a thick mouthfeel from this at all. It’s another filtered creation from the Kings of Filtration (or is that Weyerbacher?). Light, dry, spices on the end are too dry and borderline astringent for me. Yeast is Belgian in nature, but not distinctly so. Though I am glad that they went underboard on the yeastiness rather than overboard, which too often ruins a good American style Belgian ale. It’s not bad overall, though, a mindless, inoffensive, easy drink.

A hazy pale amber beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is lightly grassy, while the flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as hints of grass and fruit, and with prunes in the aftertaste. I had expected more.

(From a trade with Dark Elf-thanks) A high quality ipa. The aroma starts with a powerful hint of brandy that faded in only a few seconds. Ordinary appearance; short lived head, gold in color. Different flavors all related to hops. There is dry grass and some citrus, with a dry finish.

Doesn’t really taste much like a belgian dark ale, but then again, Lagunitas never really makes anything that adheres strictly to style - other than that, this is a pretty tasty brew - roasty, toasty maltiness rests atop an undercurrent of belgian-like, sugar sweetness and a light yeastiness - not one of their best, but quite good.

Brown, lasting tan head.Light yeasty nose. Slightly metallic yeasty malt taste,late arriving medium bitterness. Gassy. Light alcohol heat

Bottle pours a clear very dark but not quite opaques black. Very rich creamy tan head and very thick lacing. Aromas are dark roasted malts and a sweet carmel or coffee hint. Flavor is quite light on the roastedness and rather pale in general. Vanilla and toffee. joh\sh is right on. Slightly smokey and I’d say more like a soft porter than a stout. Especially an Imperial. Very easy on the bittering hops and no real bite in the aftertaste. Nice smooth feel but pretty light on the pallette Easy to put down and at 8.2 % Im gona be in trouble in about a half hour.

Bottle Pours a sllightly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Light fruity aromsa and a healthy hops kick. Flavors were quite bitter but not in a good, hoppy way. Seemed a bit off. Plenty of malts for body and a nice thick heavy feel. Linger bitterness again that I didn’t think was only the hop profile. May have to try again soon.
